This Privacy Policy explains how PetMood ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, mobile-friendly app, and related services (the "Service"). By using PetMood you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: email, display name, avatar, bio.
- Pet data: name, species, breed, photo, birthday, public/private setting.
- Mood content: mood emoji, optional note, optional GPS coordinates, timestamp.
- Usage data: device, browser, pages viewed, errors, approximate IP location.
- Cookies & local storage: session tokens and preferences (e.g. Mapbox token).
2. How we use information
- Provide and operate the Service (auth, feed, map, groups).
- Show your pets and moods to other users you choose to share with.
- Improve features, debug, and prevent abuse.
- Send transactional emails (password reset, security alerts).
3. Location data
Sharing a mood with location is optional. When you enable it, we store the latitude and longitude attached to that mood. You can delete the mood at any time, which removes the location with it.
4. Sharing
Public pets and their moods are visible to other authenticated users. We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with infrastructure providers who process it on our behalf (hosting, database, map tiles, email delivery) under contractual safeguards.
5. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
We process data under the legal bases of contract performance, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent (e.g. location), and legal obligation.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (EEA, UK, California, etc.) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your data, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Retention
We retain data while your account is active. You can delete pets, moods, or your account at any time. Backups containing residual data are rotated and purged within 90 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (TLS in transit, encryption at rest, row-level access controls). No method of transmission is 100% secure.
9. Children
PetMood is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us for removal.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
